Circular Formwork ORBIS – With or without tie rods
The circular formwork ORBIS is a practical circular formwork system that delivers smooth, curved walls from radii of 3.00 m upward – steplessly. The system is used for the construction of biogas plants, silo towers, garage entrances, reservoir, and other round structures.
The focus of this system lies on efficient working on the construction site. This circular formwork enables a cost efficient realization of complicated geometries with variable radii. The system consists of pre-assembled steel panels, which can be quickly adjusted to suit the required radius simply by turning the spindles. The maximum permissible fresh concrete pressure is 60 kN/m².
This circular formwork is available in two variants, with or without tie rods. The variant without tie rods transferers the external ring tension force as well as the internal compression force to the turning spindles. The realization of circular structures with the formwork without tie points facilitates tight construction.
The Orbis circular formwork is also compatible with other INTERFAMA formwork systems and they can be easily combined with one another.

Projects & References
France – construction of reservoirs
Approximately 445 m² of our ORBIS circular formwork was used in the construction of several storage tanks in France. The diameter of the reservoirs is 23 m, and the height is 8 m. The curved concrete walls could be efficiently formed and concreted in 3 concreting sections in combination with the MRM climbing brackets. The solutions developed and the on-site support during construction contributed to an efficient and smooth construction process.
Water reservoir for the municipality of Laas/ Venosta Valley (South Tirol)
A water reservoir with a diameter of 28 meters was built in Lasa using our ORBIS circular formwork. The 8 meter high round concrete walls could be formed and concreted in 3 concreting sections. The ceiling of the pool was then realized with the ALUSTERN ceiling formwork.
Construction of a new fermentation plant – Bari
Systems used to build a new fermentation plant: ORBIS circular formwork and MRM climbing brackets.
Construction of a storage basin with a diameter of 33.5 meters
For the construction of a storage basin with a diameter of 33.5 meters and a height of 6.0 meters, INTERFAMA supplied all the formwork systems required: – for the round walls of the basin; 633 m² ORBIS circular formwork without tie points including 192 MRM climbing brackets – for the columns; Round column formwork RSS Ø 50 cm with special sleeve – for the ceiling Ø 40 cm; ALUSTERN support system and aluminum props I-Prop 625 cm.
Construction of a drinking water storage tank
For the construction of a drinking water storage tank with a diameter of 15 m and 7.5 meters high, INTERFAMA supplied all the formwork systems required:
– round wall for storage; 295 m² ORBIS circular formwork without tie points with the MRM climbing brackets
– central round pillar; Round column formwork RSS Ø 80 cm
– ceiling 40 cm thick; 170 m² ALUSTERN support system
Construction of a BIOGAS PLANT
For the implementation of the “anaerobic digestion” biogas plant in Pisticci in the province of Matera (MT), INTERFAMA has supplied all the necessary formwork systems and specifically:
– for round walls of the tanks – 456 m² circular formwork ORBIS without tie points complete with 152 climbing brackets MRM.
– for the ceilings of the pools – 490 m² ceiling formwork system VELOX with supports ALUSTERN and i-Prop 625 cm and additional supports.
– for straight walls and trenches – 275 m² MAXIM formwork system.
